SES 2024 live and virtual symposiums: Advancing education in collaboration with ESH

During 2024, SES was proud to host two in-person symposiums and one virtual symposium, supported by our ongoing partnership with the European School of Haematology (ESH). ESH is a not-for-profit institution for the dissemination of information and lifelong learning founded in 1985 to promote and facilitate access to state-of-the-art and cutting-edge knowledge in hematology and related disciplines at the European level. ESH conferences showcase state-of-the-art science and provide insight into new developments in the fields of basic, clinical, and therapeutic research in hematology. Our collaboration with ESH has enabled us to deliver wide-reaching, impactful, high-quality educational content to healthcare professionals (HCPs). Together, we continue to expand knowledge, inspire discussion, and influence clinical practice in hematology.

Multiple Myeloma Hub Symposium: ESH 7th Translational Research Conference

The Multiple Myeloma Hub hosted a live symposium during the ESH 7th Translational Research Conference: Multiple Myeloma, held in Mandelieu-La Napoule, France. Titled “How to sequence BCMA-directed therapies in early relapsed/refractory MM”, the event was chaired by Mohamad Mohty and featured expert speakers Martin Kaiser and Rakesh Popat. With 80 in-person participants, the symposium had a significant impact on knowledge. All attendees agreed that the content was clear, relevant, and effectively addressed the learning objectives. The interactive format fostered substantial engagement, culminating in an in-depth panel discussion fueled by insightful questions from the audience. Measurable knowledge gains were observed through pre- and post-session tests, with participants demonstrating improved competence. Notably, 75% of respondents indicated that they would change their clinical practice based on the insights gained during the session.

This independent educational activity was supported by GlaxoSmithKline. All content was developed by SES in collaboration with the faculty; funders were allowed no influence on the content of this activity.

Lymphoma Hub Symposium: ESH 4th How to Diagnose and Treat Lymphoma

During the ESH 4th How to Diagnose and Treat Lymphoma conference in Stockholm, Sweden, the Lymphoma Hub hosted an in-person symposium. Titled “Treating classical Hodgkin lymphoma: Spotlight on targeted therapies”, the event was chaired by Lymphoma Hub Chair Gilles Salles and featured Ann LaCasce and Paul Bröckelmann as speakers. The session welcomed 118 attendees and inspired lively discussions, driven by the inclusion of five interactive case studies. All participants reported that the content was clear and relevant, and expressed a commitment to integrating the latest clinical trial findings and targeted therapy insights into their practice.

This independent educational activity was supported by Takeda. All content was developed by SES in collaboration with the faculty; funders were allowed no influence on the content of this activity.

Multiple Myeloma Hub Virtual Symposium

The Multiple Myeloma Hub also leveraged virtual platforms to reach a global audience through its symposium titled “Current and future perspectives for bispecific antibodies in multiple myeloma: Learnings from 2023.” Chaired by Sagar Lonial, the event featured Naresh Bumma, Amrita Krishnan, and Sergio Giralt as expert speakers. The symposium attracted 289 registrants and 111 live attendees, with 69% of those who completed knowledge-based questions demonstrating an increase in their understanding of the topic. Above all, all respondents expressed a commitment to staying informed about clinical trial updates and adopting patient-specific treatment strategies for multiple myeloma using bispecific antibody therapies.

This independent educational activity was funded by Janssen and Bristol Myers Squibb. All content was developed independently by the faculty. The funders were allowed no influence on the content of this activity.

The impact of partnership with ESH

These valuable education sessions highlight the vital role of independent education in equipping HCPs with the knowledge and tools needed to improve patient outcomes. SES is deeply grateful to ESH for their partnership, which has enabled the delivery of this valuable content and aided in extending its reach to an engaged and key audience of learners.
