Optimizing BCMA-directed therapies: A standout virtual symposium from the Multiple Myeloma Hub

A timely conversation on quality of life in multiple myeloma

On Thursday, March 5, 2026, the Multiple Myeloma Hub hosted a one-hour virtual symposium titled Optimizing dosing of BCMA-directed therapies for improved quality of life in multiple myeloma. Accredited for one hour of CME credit by EBAC, the session brought together a global expert faculty to examine how clinicians can balance efficacy, safety, and patient-reported outcomes when treating relapsed multiple myeloma.

Expert faculty and key learning areas

Chaired by Rakesh Popat (University College London Hospitals), the program featured insights from Fredrik Schjesvold (Oslo Myeloma Center) and Hang Quach (St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne). Together, they guided learners through:

  • The mechanisms of action of different BCMA-directed therapies
  • Key efficacy, safety, and patient-reported outcomes data from clinical trials and real-world settings
  • Early identification, monitoring, and management of treatment-specific adverse events
  • The rationale for therapy selection based on treatment-, disease-, and patient-related factors

A patient voice that set the symposium apart

A particular highlight of the session was the contribution from patient representative Lynn Williams, whose candid and engaging account of her treatment journey added a deeply human dimension to the clinical discussion. Her insights resonated strongly with the audience and elevated the symposium well beyond a typical online educational event.

The symposium was very well attended, and an optional virtual exhibitor space afterwards offered further opportunities for discussion and networking with the faculty.
