MPN Hub live symposium at ESH MPN 2026: Patient-centered approaches in myelofibrosis

The MPN Hub was thrilled to host a live symposium at the European School of Haematology (ESH) MPN congress in Lisbon, Portugal, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 13:00–14:00 WEST. The session brought together a panel of leading experts to discuss patient-centered approaches to managing cytopenic myelofibrosis, with a particular focus on tailoring treatment for anemia and thrombocytopenia.

About the symposium

Titled Patient-centered approaches in myelofibrosis: Tailoring treatment for anemia and thrombocytopenia, the session was chaired by Prof. Jean-Jacques Kiladjian (Université Paris Cité – Hôpital Saint-Louis, Paris, France) and featured presentations from an expert faculty:

  • Prof. Jean-Jacques Kiladjian opened the scientific content with an overview of the clinical burden of anemia and thrombocytopenia in myelofibrosis, highlighting the importance of prioritizing cytopenia management in this patient population
  • Prof. Steffen Koschmieder (University Hospital RWTH Aachen, Aachen, Germany) navigated the therapeutic landscape for cytopenic myelofibrosis, exploring available treatment options for patients with moderate or severe/transfusion-dependent anemia and the additional complexity of thrombocytopenia
  • Prof. Claire Harrison (Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK) brought the session to life with an interactive patient case study, offering a practical walkthrough of treatment algorithms, sequencing strategies, and real-world insights for managing cytopenic myelofibrosis

The session concluded with an engaging panel discussion and Q&A, facilitated by Prof. Kiladjian, covering real-world treatment decision-making, sequencing strategies, and future directions for cytopenic myelofibrosis. The symposium was well attended, with delegates actively participating in the interactive case study and submitting questions that sparked thoughtful and dynamic discussion among the faculty.
