2023: A year of growth, learnings, and innovation
December 22, 2023
With 2023 nearing its end, we would like to take stock and reflect on a year’s hard work here at Scientific Education Support (SES).
Growth
As a team, we produced 353 written articles and drug updates, 42 visual abstracts, and conducted 83 interviews with leaders in their respective fields on the latest updates in clinical practice. We travelled the world, covering 23 major congresses to ensure our audience was able to access the latest news, and were delighted with the positive feedback we received. The audience for all eight of our hubs has grown, with our education reaching 207,575 unique users across the year and receiving 1,691,648engagements on X (formally Twitter).
With our patient platforms, we marked the 7th Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) World Awareness Day and the 2nd World Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Day, delivered two community meetings, an interactive workshop, and recorded and published 38 videos.
Learnings
We are proud to see that our education is benefiting a wider audience than ever. In 2023, our hubs increased knowledge in an average of 37% of our audience! In addition to ensuring our hubs delivered micro-learning opportunities for healthcare professionals, we also ran several webinars and symposia—playing our part in bridging the educational gaps identified in our needs assessments. EHA 2023 was a particular highlight, where our joint Lymphoma Hub and Multiple Myeloma Hub symposium on CAR T-cell therapy attracted 750 live participants and saw 89% of respondents committing to use what they had learned in clinical practice.
This year also saw our patient platforms increasing knowledge, with 90% of our audience feeling more confident in caring for someone with AML and 71% feeling more knowledgeable about AML.
Innovation
2023 was a year of innovation for the SES team. We introduced Google Translate to our hubs, broadening access to our insightful education, and developed a drug updates page that captures our social media coverage from congresses, ensuring it has a permanent home on our hubs and enabling our audience to easily search and find the latest news. We began working on a resource center, a home on the hubs for long-form education designed to close educational gaps, which will be launched in 2024. With the launch of user accounts on our hubs, our audience can now personalize their educational journeys, bookmarking content and highlighting their areas of interest; this means our hubs can provide education of relevance and reinforce our audiences learning.
On our patient platforms, we added social icons so our content can be easily shared on social media and revamped our resources page to make it clear that content can be edited and translated into other languages.
Thank you
None of this would be possible without our supporters, we are continuously grateful for the trust they place in us and would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for contributing to our achievements this year. Also, thank you to our steering committee, patient ambassadors, and society partners, whose tireless efforts ensure our hubs and patient platforms continue to thrive as the go-to place for the latest news and education in their respective fields; we are so thankful for your support, guidance, and commitment to raising the knowledge of healthcare professionals and supporting patient care.
